20/20 ?!?!

Last week I had to go to the eye doctor to get my eyes dilated. Now I actually hate going to the eye doctor. I know, I know eye care/ good vision SHOULD be at the top of my list, but sadly it is not. Blindness, blurryness and eye gunk are apparently more important to me.
But two of the real reasons why I HATE going to the eye doctor (almost as much as the dentist) is because of the glaucoma test and getting your eyes dilated.
John does have good eyes. He does not know what it is like to get the dreaded puff in your eye for the glaucoma test. All my glasses, contact wearing posse can I get a Umm Humm on how annoying it is?
First off, you know it's coming. You know that a puff of air will be shot into your eye. This is all in the name of good eye care. Your normal reaction to knowing something will be blown into your eye is to close it right? Well, for this test you have to try to keep your eyes open. Fun times. They shoot the air in and you get to do it again for the other eye.
last week to get it done. So what did I have to get done again- the AIR PUFF TEST! I really could have smacked the too perky lab tech that was just doing her job as she smiled and said sorry. I showed great I went in May to get my (semi) annual eye exam. I'm not a fan so I try to hold out as long as possible. They did the air puff test then. I did not get my eyes dilated then, and I had to go backrestraint as she puffed away at my eyes.
Where I really almost lost it was when she put eye drops in my eyes to dilate them. First she put a numbing drop in and then the dilation drop. It is a weird feeling to have someone else pull open your eye and put something in it. I mean I do it to my self daily, but to have someone else do it- it's weird. So the too perky lab tech says sorry she'll give me one more drop because she wasn't sure it went in. OK one more drop. I told her that they both went in. She brought me the coolest sunglasses ever. They looked like a grandmas sun glasses. But they had no sides. Your face held them on. Now get how cute I looked- I put these sun glasses on and then I had to put my glasses ON TOP of them so I could see. And yes, the sun hurt.
Thankfully when I was all done it was cloudy so it didn't hurt to drive home. And thankfully I passed what the State of Texas calls safe level of vision so I could drive my self home. But as I was driving (weaving blindly) home, I thought about how my vision was not so good. And this is the legal and safe limit to see???? Yikes! Clear me of the road when I see anyone in those grandma sun glasses.

I love it! I left my glasses in WA so I had to get an eye exam and new glasses last week and was scared to death of the puff test. I was so excited they didnt make me do it. My last exam was done by my friend and I was so embarassed in front of her for the puff test. I did have my eyes dialated then and then went to look at fabrics- not a smart move since I couldn't see them
