I've been meaning to write this (or any) post for some time now. So here it is- The Birth Story aka The Girl Version:
So April 28 early in the morning I woke up with some contractions. I think I had them on and off for a few days but nothing major. At 2 I woke up and put together a e-mail list just in case. So I started tracking my contractions and they were not consistent and they went away around 4. The next morning (still the 28th) I was kind of grumpy and cranky. Not really myself. John took Gianna and watched her all day. We all went to sleep as usual. Then around 3:30 ish (April 29) I woke up to go to the bathroom and could not go back to sleep as I was having some more "false" labor pains again. So I got up and played on the computer and rechecked that email list! I kind of felt that this might be it, but also hoping that it was just false labor again like the other few times that we had gone to the hospital. I knew that we needed to go and so I waited until 5 took a shower and then woke John up. He was ready to go in an instant but I told him to go take a shower. He wanted to call our friend who was going to watch Gianna right them but I said no- I can wait- no hurry. By the time he got out of the shower I was really in contraction mode so I asked him to hurry and call Jenny NOW. He did and we left for the hospital around 5:45 and got into the labor room around 6. It was a whirl wind from then on.
I got all hooked up to the monitors and the nurse told me that the Dr wanted me to have an epidural. I consented as he told me at an earlier appointment that I would have to have one if I wanted a VBAC. So I got the epidural and got checked and then got my water broken.
They quickly wheeled me into the OR- just in case there was a need for any emergencies.
How many people were at your labor? I had 11 for mine. I guess it was the teacher in me that said OK to having students help out with the birth. So I had 4 nurses for the babies, two for me. A doctor for the babies and one for me, and 2 for the anesthesia and one lady who I'm still not sure what she was there for but she helped my push and hold my back.
Oh and John was there too! So that's 12!
I felt really good about pushing. I had a peace from the Lord and knew everything was going to go well even delivering at 34 weeks. I really had a great labor. I just felt calm and we were laughing and making jokes with the doctor and staff. I pushed a few moments after being settled into the OR and Elizabeth Ann made her way into the world at 8:07. They let me catch my breath for a second and then the DR wanted me to push again. I did and two contractions later Cosette Marie greeted us at 8:14. Now I can remember the exact time and their weights, but I still have no clue how long they were.
I didn't get to hold the girls but the APGAR scores were good E: 7-9 and C: 7-8 The girl's doctor said that they were doing good and John and the crew took off for the nursery.
The girls were maintaining their body temperature (hard to do when you have little body fat) and I got to hold them for the first time.

I'm so glad you shared your version of it! I always thought it was nice to mentally walk through our process later on, to remember what the beginning was really like.
This is a great documentation of their birthday! So glad you shared it! They are getting sweeter by the day! Hope that you are doing well. I think of you all the time. Take care!
