Last week John headed to the Big Apple- New York and I headed up to Dallas. There was no way that I was going to attempt to solo parent for five days. Five days is a LONG time to be a zone defense with three girls- 2 of them still not sleeping through the night!
John went for a conference and came home with lots of great ideas and stuff. He also go to sneak in a Yankees game and had a blast.
Gianna had a great time playing with cousins. I really didn't get to see her much the whole time I was there. She was enjoying them too much to be concerned with boring old mom.
I really really appreciated my brother, my sis-in-law, and my s-i-l law's sister all helped me wrangle babies.
I remembered the nursing pillow, medicine, extra clothes for everybody, but I forgot my wallet!!!!
Thankfully my family spotted me and let Gianna and I enjoy a free ride while we were there. And a special treat- my sis- in -law even arranged for me to get a pedicure! It was wonderful.
I made the trip up and down by myself and there was only one incident of note. Really this happened EVERY time I stopped and took Gianna to the bathroom (only 4 times) but still.
Imagine if you will: One mom. One toddler who is potty training. And two babies who are still in car seats. Now this mom is only has two hands and that it usually required each hand to be holding a car seat. This requires the toddler to have to hold on to a car seat. This does not leave me with another had to open the door with ease. I have to set a baby down and hold the door with my foot get one baby and one toddler in the door and then pick up the other baby and get us all inside. I do not have enough energy to hold the door open for you, nor the good natured happy heart that I probably should have to:
wait for you to observe all of us and me doing this while you stand with your mouth open holding your fries in one hand and drink in the other right in my path
walk in front of me quickly to get in line before me
push my toddler
whisper behind my back "boy, she has her hands full."
be OK when you revved your engine right as we are trying to get in the car and we wait for you to back up only to discover that you are not going any where you are just reeving your engine for the folks who wanted to get their happy meal before me.
It all really happened, but I had my sense of humor and Gianna was a gem. She really is a great girl who just want to get something to eat so she can dip- her new favorite pastime.
And I know since the last post you all are wondering-
But sadly, when I returned, there was no outside potty or even a note to tell us what happened to it. I guess we'll just have to hope it went to a better place.
