Color Blind?

Well the time has come my dear friends, when I had to succumb to the destiny of lots of mom's everywhere.
It was time to get a mini van.
I knew it was coming- I already have the I heart soccer tattoo and the mom jeans. All I needed to be a "true" mom was the mini van.
Now some moms take the "cool" route and get and SUV or other car like that. But well, SUV's have never been on radar for my choice of transportation. Especially after we had to drive to Houston every other day last summer on 3.99 a gallon gas. I know the mini is not much better but it still makes me feel better- if not pious! :) (No condemnation if you drive a SUV- I'm just trying to write a funny blog.)
Thanks to my brother who has paved the way in most things in my life. He's two years older so he gets to do stuff first. He went to college first, got married first, had three girls first, and has had not one but two mini's. He let us test drive his Toyota in November and we loved it. We knew we were destined to get a mini because sadly all the girls and car seats could not fit in our beloved Chevy Malibu Maxx. So what's a family of five to do? Get a mini.
So we shopped around town and did decide to get the Toyota Sienna. But we weren't ready to buy it yet as it was just January. So we waited.
So fast forward to recent events and we decided that we should go ahead and make the plunge and get the mini before we REALLY needed it and then were forced to settle.
We both knew what we wanted. We agreed on the color, options, and details. John used his mad bargaining skills to get a AWESOME deal. Well, they were trying to put up a fight with the price of the trade in so John just walked away. It was sad Tuesday night, but we had prayed and felt at peace. The next day they called him and agreed to all what John wanted.
So he goes and picks up the car. Now mind you all I'm still on bed rest and could not go with him. He brings me home a blue car.
What is this? I clearly said- SLATE blue. 10 years. 10 years folks and we still haven't got this communication thing figured out.

So I'm on the verge of tears. John's on the phone and he turns around goes back to the dealership and three hours later he delivers my new SLATE blue mom mobile.
We got the car with more options and cooler interior. I'm glad I wanted the Slate blue! The dealership was nice about it. And VERY accommodating.
And John, well John was as nice as he could be. He said to me this morning- It's better now than 5 years from now and you still are saying how you hate the color!
I love that man of mine. I'm glad he loves me- mom jeans and all.

That is so exciting! I am cracking up thinking about the color shock and John having to call them back and re-negotiate. What grace the Lord has for us in our marriage communication and that the dealership ended up giving you an even better car! Glad it all got worked out before the girls get here :-)

I'm so happy that you have such a wonderful hubbie, and love that he stood by his ground and God has blessed you guys!!

I will jab right back though, and say that unless God blesses us with triplets or more, I will NEVER own a minivan and absolutely LOVE OUR TWO SUV'S!!!!!! :)
