We did it

That's right- we did it. John and I both successfully watched Gianna for a whole day. Me while laying down and not being able to get up to encourage her to obedience. And John while trying to work full time but having many many breaks to do the get up part of parenting.
Many thanks to good friends who brought us lunch today and a very dear special friend who brought books and a fun craft to pass the time. Mostly it was just a delight to have people come by and break up the monotony of laying down with conversation. Tomorrow is 29 weeks! Grow dear babies grow!

Baby G is back!

That's right- Gianna came home today from a week at the grandparents. She had a great time and we missed her a lot! We enjoyed hanging out with John's parents they brought us lunch and cooked us dinner!
Gianna enjoyed climbing all over me and caught up with all her toys.

We had a Sonogram appointment today and I was very disappointed that it showed that I was back down to a 1.87. It really is a yo-yo ride. One day it's OK length and the next it's really short. They did not admit me to the hospital because I am compliant and following bed rest rules- laying down and only getting up to eat and personal hygiene.
One more week is gone and I'll be 29 weeks on Saturday. I'm really praying that I make it to at least 34 weeks. But one day at a time. Praise the Lord for no more contractions or trips to the hospital!

I can carry you

Watch around 1:42

This is what my sweet husband told me as he was getting me water, helping me get up, adjusting my pillow, opening the blinds, turning on the fan, getting me breakfast, bringing me the paper, getting a straw for my drink, and the millions of other tasks he does in a day to make sure I stay on bed rest and laying down.
He said, "I wish for a little bit I could carry the babies for you. But I know I can't so this is what I do to love you so you can carry the load."
Now how sweet is that? Making a LOTR analogy and wanting to carry my babies for me at the same time. What a keeper he is!

Irish

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all. Did you wear green? I did although no one saw it except my husband and he well he wore black today. I admit I did pinch him.
It's the small things in life that thrill you when you're on bed rest.

I've been reading a lot and on the computer some. Remarkably I've not been watching much TV. I guess I'm hoping that I will hold out as much as possible so that when I really do need to watch it, it will be a new fun thing! :)

In case you're wondering here's what I have read:
Magazine count: 5
Book count: 3 (one Harry Potter- 6 to go)
Days on Bed rest: 5

I made the grocery list and John went shopping for me! It's really the first time in 2 years that he's gone to the store to pick up more than just ice cream or milk because it's one of the fun things that Gianna and I do together every week. He did a great job and even used coupons!
Tomorrow he is going to get me a outside lounge chair so I can get out of the four walls on pretty days!

Deep Breath

Today we found out that my cervix has actually lengthened! Hurray! The bed rest seems to be working.
The hard way we found out was that at 4 this morning I had some contractions and we went to the ER to have them check it out. I got another IV and hooked up to monitors and had some not so fun poking, but after a while and a fetal fibriconetic test that came back negative they decided that my contracts were not serious and they sent me home. We were so glad to find out that the fetal test came back negative. That means that I'm not producing the hormones to go into labor right now.
I remembered the last words the nurse told me on Friday, "You go to the ER if there is something going on. You know your body best and we can check it out."
I was reassured by the doctors and nurses that were glad that I came in rather than try to tough it out.
We are emotionally drained today, but joyful. I had some time to ponder our drive into the hospital and how it represented our journey towards parenthood. You see it was totally dark today at 5 this morning on the way to the hospital. TOTALLY. There was a fog so thick that I have never seen in our town before. You had to be right next to the street light to tell what color it was. We "knew" the destination and the roads to get there, but had to pause just to make sure that were were headed in the right direction, and that others would be safe. I don't totally want to over analize our simple 10 minute trip, but it was a good way for God to remind me- "I know the path. I have it laid out for you. You may know where you will end up, but I have already been on the road before you and prepared the way."

Et tu Brute?

Were you being aware of the Ides of March?

We read Julius Cesar in high school and I always loved the warning given to Cesar- "Beware of the Ides of March." He did not believe and well, he ah, well... he got the point of a few disgruntled senators. Apparently he did not approve some of their judicial picks for the supreme court or their idea of a tax stimulus package.

Today was a slow day. I've been having some pretty bad heartburn, but other than that I'm fine. One more day down.
