2-3 Weeks!

Yikes! That's what the doctor told us today. That he wouldn't be surprised if I had the girls in 2-3 weeks. John and I both agreed that we were not sure why but it took us by surprise.
I had kind of figured that I wouldn't go 10 more weeks, but I guess that thought I had more time than 2-3 weeks.
He also said that I could surprise him and go to 36 weeks too. I was also glad that he told me that I was an excellent candidate for a V-BAC! We will have to see what happens.
So for now, we are just keeping on doing the same thing- BEDREST and checking in twice a week.

Just like Daddy

Gianna is VERY fascinated with my and Johns computer. So we decided to get her one of her own. John took her to the store to pick one out. He gave her a choice of colors. She is still working on them and usually names everything green. But not this computer. When given a choice she said "pink." So pink it was for her.
I took this picture because she got out her computer out to "work" with daddy. That's what she said- "work." Now when she wants to work on on our computers, we remind her that she has her own and she runs and goes to find it!
Not all the time do we have moments of genius as parents, but we are sure glad that we had that one!

Bed rest is going OK. It is still hard, but I'm trying to be a good patient. Gianna and I have sweet moments during the day. She is beginning to understand that I can't get up and help her all the time (really at all!) I usually tell her- Daddy will have to fix it. So yesterday when John was "fixing" the toe kicks in the house Gianna helped him with her own rubber mallet and walked around saying, "Daddy fix it. Gianna fix it."

30 weeks!

30 weeks with 2 babies!

30 weeks with just Gianna

It's not me who's growing- It's the girls I promise!
We did have a doctors appointment and my cervix is holding on at a 2!
Two visits again next week.

Color Blind?

Well the time has come my dear friends, when I had to succumb to the destiny of lots of mom's everywhere.
It was time to get a mini van.
I knew it was coming- I already have the I heart soccer tattoo and the mom jeans. All I needed to be a "true" mom was the mini van.
Now some moms take the "cool" route and get and SUV or other car like that. But well, SUV's have never been on radar for my choice of transportation. Especially after we had to drive to Houston every other day last summer on 3.99 a gallon gas. I know the mini is not much better but it still makes me feel better- if not pious! :) (No condemnation if you drive a SUV- I'm just trying to write a funny blog.)
Thanks to my brother who has paved the way in most things in my life. He's two years older so he gets to do stuff first. He went to college first, got married first, had three girls first, and has had not one but two mini's. He let us test drive his Toyota in November and we loved it. We knew we were destined to get a mini because sadly all the girls and car seats could not fit in our beloved Chevy Malibu Maxx. So what's a family of five to do? Get a mini.
So we shopped around town and did decide to get the Toyota Sienna. But we weren't ready to buy it yet as it was just January. So we waited.
So fast forward to recent events and we decided that we should go ahead and make the plunge and get the mini before we REALLY needed it and then were forced to settle.
We both knew what we wanted. We agreed on the color, options, and details. John used his mad bargaining skills to get a AWESOME deal. Well, they were trying to put up a fight with the price of the trade in so John just walked away. It was sad Tuesday night, but we had prayed and felt at peace. The next day they called him and agreed to all what John wanted.
So he goes and picks up the car. Now mind you all I'm still on bed rest and could not go with him. He brings me home a blue car.
What is this? I clearly said- SLATE blue. 10 years. 10 years folks and we still haven't got this communication thing figured out.

So I'm on the verge of tears. John's on the phone and he turns around goes back to the dealership and three hours later he delivers my new SLATE blue mom mobile.
We got the car with more options and cooler interior. I'm glad I wanted the Slate blue! The dealership was nice about it. And VERY accommodating.
And John, well John was as nice as he could be. He said to me this morning- It's better now than 5 years from now and you still are saying how you hate the color!
I love that man of mine. I'm glad he loves me- mom jeans and all.

Just Keep Swimming

I'm just swimming here. Tomorrow marks two weeks on bed rest and I'm surviving. John is doing good, but tired, and Gianna well Gianna has fully adjusted.
Yesterday she pulled at my shirt and had to "check out" my tummy. That's really what she said. She got an old broken bluetooth that we decided she needed as a toy, and "checked" me out. She said I was "good." Thank goodness. Although the force at which she checked me out was a tad unpleasant- I was glad to know I passed her inspection.
We've talked to her some about her sisters. She insists on calling one of them Grace. That is not the name we have chosen however. I think she may be somewhat making a connection that I have babies in my tummy, because three times she has pointed at me and said, "Babies!"

One Day at a time

We had another Dr's appointment yesterday- no change stay the same- BEDREST! We go in for ANOTHER appointment on Friday! That's a lot. But as John said- What do you care it's your big event and outing for the day! :)
He's right. Not many places is it acceptable to lay down flat and do what you need to do. I guess the only place I can think of is a mattress store. But I don't need a new mattress.
The Doctors says yes, twice a week is a lot, but when I get further along then we won't have to go as much.

On a reading note, I finished Harry Potter last night. Bad move to do alone at night. John had a meeting that went late and I was by myself. It took a long time to fall asleep! But it was a good series and I'm glad that I waited until I could read them all back to back. Because when in my life could I have that much uninterrupted reading time. It will surely not be after the girls are born!!!!!
On a social note- I have really great friends! It has been so wonderful to be so blessed by so many different people. It is pure joy to know that so many of our friends care and are willing to come beside us and help us throughout this time. Thank you all!

Proverbs 27:9
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel.

Hard Day

Yesterday was a hard day for all of us. We were just out of sorts. For me it was hard because Gianna has chosen now, to say "No, no, no!" When we ask her to hug or kiss me. I know it's just the moods of a 2 year old, but it's a hard by product of being on bed rest.
John was still trying to figure out how to balance the household and Gianna and me and all his normal Saturday chores as well.
So that's why there was no yesterday post.

Today was quiet. John and Gianna went to church and I read some Harry Potter. While they got Holy, I got Harry. I've been reading lots of him. I only have one and a half books left! None of this waiting to read the series for me. I like to start and finish. I was the same way with Lord of the Rings and even as a kid with Little House on the Prairie! What can I say- I like to read!
